What if cannabis has therapeutic properties against Covid-19? Does cannabis cure Covid-19? Canadian scientists have identified 13 varieties of cannabis that could prevent infection by the new coronavirus, the Next Web reported on Friday. These varieties include OG-Kush, Northern Lights, Green Crack, and Grape God

A modification of the enzyme
In their research, which was not peer-reviewed and published, Canadian scientists extracted cannabidiol (“CBD”, the non-psychoactive substance of the plant) from 800 varieties of cannabis Sativa).

They found that 13 of these varieties would reduce the ability of the virus responsible for Covid-19 to enter the body by modulating the ACE2 enzyme, in which the virus settles and spreads. This would slow the progression of CoV-2-SARS in the body and thus ultimately slow down the infection.

What is Covid-19?

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus.

Most people infected with COVID-19 suffer from mild to moderate respiratory disease and recover without special treatment. Elderly people and people with underlying medical conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease and cancer are at higher risk of developing serious diseases.

The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by washing your hands or frequently using an alcohol-based rubbing agent and not touching your face.

The COVID-19 virus is spread mainly by saliva droplets or a runny nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes. It is therefore important that you also observe the respiratory etiquette (e.g. cough with your elbow bent).

There is currently no specific vaccine or treatment for COVID-19, but many clinical trials are underway to evaluate potential treatments. The WHO will continue to provide updated information as clinical results become available.

How Do I Prevent Covid-19

To prevent infection and slow the transmission of COVID-19, proceed as follows

  • Wash your hands regularly with soap and water or rub your hands with alcohol.
  • Keep at least one meter away from people who cough or sneeze.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze.
  • Stay home if you don’t feel well.
  • Stop smoking and other activities that weaken the lungs.
  • Practice physical distance by avoiding unnecessary travel and staying away from large groups of people.
